Veterinary Urgent Care Team Lead

Position Summary:

The Urgent Care Veterinary Team Lead is a pre-supervisory clinical and operational leader who serves as an extension of the hospital's leadership team. This role is responsible for driving on-shift excellence in patient care, workflow efficiency, and team alignment while actively contributing to hands-on clinical duties.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with emotional intelligence, leading with accountability, professionalism, and a commitment to our hospital's mission, vision, and standards of care.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate workflow and delegate tasks to support efficient patient flow
  • Monitor caseloads and escalate urgent or critical cases appropriately
  • Serve as the on-shift clinical resource for urgent care and emergency protocols
  • Lead AM/PM rounds and ensure clear shift handoffs
  • Support and guide the team during emergency and code events
  • Coach and mentor team members in real time
  • Address client concerns with empathy and professionalism
  • Ensure accurate medical records and completion of daily operational tasks

What You Bring:

  • Experience in urgent care or emergency veterinary medicine
  • Strong triage, anesthesia monitoring, and critical patient care skills
  • Ability to stay calm, organized, and decisive in high-pressure situations
  • Strong communication and leadership presence
  • Comfort multitasking in a fast-paced clinical environment

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years veterinary experience required
  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT/RVT) strongly preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Previous charge, shift lead, or informal leadership experience preferred
  • Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVTs)

Position Summary:

Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs)
LVTs are core clinical professionals at VSP, delivering advanced nursing care, supporting diagnostics and treatment, and helping drive efficient patient flow in a fast-paced urgent and emergency environment. LVTs serve as clinical role models, demonstrating professionalism, composure, and leadership during high-acuity cases.

What You'll Do

  • Assist veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care
  • Obtain accurate and in-depth medical histories from clients and document in patient records
  • Perform routine procedures including medication administration, treatment plan execution, blood work, and in-house diagnostics
  • Calculate drug doses using medical math
  • Monitor and record patient vital signs during procedures and recovery
  • Prepare patients for surgery and assist during surgical procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness and sterility of instruments and equipment
  • Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery
  • Educate pet owners on at-home care and medication administration
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
  • Keep exam rooms, lobby, treatment area, and outside areas clean and organized

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician or equivalent education/training
  • LVT/CVT/RVT strongly preferred, or currently enrolled in a program
  • Strong animal handling and restraint skills
  • Strong foundational and advanced nursing skills
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique and sterilization procedures
  • Experience with catheter placement, phlebotomy, and medication administration
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a high-acuity environment
  • Familiarity with veterinary software systems
  • Team-first mindset with a commitment to patient safety and continuous growth

Veterinary Assistants (VAs)

Position Summary

Veterinary Assistants provide essential clinical and operational support, assisting veterinarians and technicians with examinations, treatments, diagnostics, and daily hospital operations. This role is foundational to clinical excellence and ideal for individuals building strong technical skills while contributing positively to team culture.

What You'll Do

  • Assist veterinarians and technicians in providing high-quality medical care
