Accepted Payment Methods
- Credit and Debit Cards: We accept major cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.
- Cash and Personal Checks: Cash and checks may be used for payments made directly at the hospital.
- Cherry Payment Plans: Qualified clients may divide approved veterinary costs into scheduled payments.
- CareCredit: An established health and wellness credit card that allows eligible balances to be paid over time.

What it is:
Cherry is a “treat now, pay over time” financing option created to help families manage the cost of approved veterinary services without paying the entire balance at once.
How it works:
• The application can generally be completed online in approximately 60 seconds.
• Checking available options uses a soft credit inquiry, which does not affect the applicant’s credit score.
• Qualified applicants may be offered short term or monthly payment arrangements based on the cost of care, approval amount, and selected plan.
• Available plans may include Pay in 4, six month, or twelve month arrangements, subject to the applicant’s eligibility and current provider terms.
Applying before your scheduled visit may help you understand your available payment options before your pet’s consultation or treatment begins.

What it is:
CareCredit is a credit card designed for health, wellness, and veterinary expenses. Approved cardholders can use it for eligible services and products and repay the balance through monthly payments.
How it works:
Qualifying purchases of $200 or more may be eligible for promotional financing when offered by the provider. Current terms, minimum payments, and promotional periods depend on credit approval and the agreement selected at the time of purchase.
Paying the full promotional balance before the applicable deadline may be required to avoid interest charges.

What it is:
Scratchpay provides installment loan options specifically for veterinary expenses. It is not a credit card, and clients may review available plans before choosing an arrangement that fits their financial situation.
How it works:
• Applications may be completed through a phone, tablet, or computer in only a few minutes.
• Available structures may include short term installment plans and longer monthly repayment options.
• Eligible veterinary costs may fall within a range established by Scratchpay at the time of application.
• Interest rates, payment amounts, and available terms depend on approval, credit profile, and the plan selected.
• Scratchpay states that its plans do not include prepayment penalties or retroactive interest.
What it is:
Trupanion offers pet medical insurance intended to help families prepare for eligible illnesses, injuries, hereditary conditions, and other unexpected veterinary expenses.
Insurance coverage is different from financing because approved expenses are reimbursed or paid according to the client’s active policy.
How It Works:
• Coverage may apply to new illnesses, accidental injuries, hereditary conditions, congenital conditions, and certain unexplained medical concerns.
• Eligible policyholders may have access to VetDirect Pay, allowing Trupanion to pay participating veterinary hospitals directly when the claim qualifies.
• Direct payment can reduce the amount a pet parent must pay upfront while waiting for reimbursement.
• Deductibles, exclusions, reimbursement percentages, and covered services depend on the individual policy.
Clients should contact Trupanion directly to confirm current coverage before approving veterinary services.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which Financing Option Is Right for Me?
The most suitable option depends on the anticipated cost of care, your preferred repayment schedule, credit eligibility, and whether your pet already has medical insurance.
Our team can explain which payment resources are accepted by the hospital. However, each provider is responsible for its own approval decisions, interest rates, fees, repayment conditions, and eligibility requirements.
Review every agreement carefully before accepting a financing offer.
Can I Receive an Estimate Before My Pet’s Visit?
A precise estimate usually requires an initial medical evaluation.
After the veterinary team has reviewed your pet’s history and completed the examination, we can explain which diagnostic tests or treatments may be appropriate and provide an estimate based on the recommended care plan.
This process helps ensure the estimate reflects your pet’s actual medical needs rather than a general assumption.
Review what to expect during a specialty appointment before your visit.
Do You Accept Pet Insurance?
Yes. We work with many pet insurance providers.
Most policies require the pet parent to pay the hospital directly and then submit a claim for reimbursement. The reimbursed amount depends on the individual policy, deductible, coverage limits, exclusions, and eligible services.
Trupanion may provide direct payment to the hospital when the policy and submitted claim qualify.
Clients can use the appropriate VSP patient portal to access available patient information and communication tools.
When Will I Receive My Final Invoice?
Our team will communicate expected costs as your pet’s evaluation and treatment plan develop.
In most cases, the final invoice is provided when the patient is discharged and ready to return home. A deposit may be required before certain diagnostic procedures, treatments, or hospital services begin.
If the completed services cost less than the amount deposited, the remaining balance will be applied or returned according to hospital payment procedures.
