Online Veterinary Pharmacy & Other Prescription Options
Managing your pet’s ongoing treatment should be simple and convenient. Through our online pharmacy, Evansville specialty patients can request approved medications, prescription diets, and supplements from home. Convenient ordering, automatic refills, and direct delivery make it easier to stay prepared and avoid interruptions in your pet’s care.
A Simpler Way to Manage Your Pet’s Refills
Our online pharmacy is the most convenient option for requesting many commonly prescribed medications and veterinary diets. You can submit eligible refill requests, manage recurring orders, and arrange delivery directly to your home. Prescription food options may include selected Purina and Royal Canin products based on your veterinarian’s recommendation.
Using the Veterinary Specialist Partners (VSP) pharmacy also allows our medical team to review your request and confirm that the medication remains appropriate for your pet.
Need Your Pet’s Medication More Quickly?
Some medications may not be available through the online pharmacy or may be needed sooner than standard delivery allows.
In these situations, submit our prescription request form. Our team will review the request, confirm approval with the prescribing veterinarian, and explain the available fulfillment options.
Thank you for trusting Veterinary Specialist Partners (VSP) with your pet’s care.
Prescription Refill Guidelines
Safe prescription management is an important part of your pet’s continued treatment. Our Evansville team reviews each request carefully to confirm that the medication, dosage, and refill timing remain appropriate. The following guidelines can help prevent delays and make the process easier for you.
How to Request a Refill
Please submit your request at least 48 hours before your pet’s current medication is expected to run out. This gives our team enough time to review the medical record, confirm refill eligibility, and obtain approval from the prescribing veterinarian.
Refill requests may be submitted through our online pharmacy, through the prescription request form, or by calling (502) 901 7990. Requests submitted outside regular working hours will be reviewed during the next available business period.
Medical Review and Refill Eligibility
Prescription approval depends on your pet’s current relationship with the prescribing veterinarian and the monitoring schedule established for their condition.
Many patients must be examined within the previous five months before additional medication can be authorized. However, your veterinarian may recommend a shorter or longer interval depending on the diagnosis, medication, and response to treatment.
Preferred Option for Medication Refills
VSP provides a convenient and competitively priced online pharmacy for medication refills. Our platform enables our team to manage and adjust refills efficiently, ensuring a smooth experience for both you and your pet. We can also help track deliveries and make adjustments to autoship orders, enhancing overall customer service.
For added convenience, you can refill medications at either of our two VSP locations. However, since on-site medication supplies may be more limited, we recommend calling ahead to confirm availability before visiting.
Certain prescriptions may also require:
Updated blood testing, urine testing, blood pressure monitoring, a follow up examination, changes to the treatment plan, and confirmation of your pet’s current weight.
Please Note: Our online pharmacy is available only for pets under the care of our specialty medicine doctors.
Why We Recommend Our Online Pharmacy
The VSP online pharmacy provides a reliable and convenient way to obtain eligible veterinary medications and prescription diets.
When you use our approved pharmacy, our team can review the order, authorize refills, update the prescription, and coordinate changes more efficiently.
Some approved prescriptions may be available for hospital pickup. On site inventory is limited, so always call before visiting to confirm availability and pickup instructions.
Requests for Outside Pharmacies
A $10 processing fee applies when a written prescription or refill authorization is requested for use at a pharmacy outside VSP or our approved online pharmacy.
Once the fee is paid, the request will be reviewed by the prescribing veterinarian. Approval is based on your pet’s current medical status and refill eligibility.
Outside pharmacies may contact our office for authorization, but processing time can vary. We recommend submitting requests in advance to avoid interruptions in treatment.
Medication Returns
Veterinary medications cannot be returned, exchanged, or refunded after they have been dispensed or have left the hospital.
This policy protects patient safety and follows medication handling requirements.

Controlled Medication Policy
Controlled medications require additional review and documentation under federal and state prescribing regulations. VSP follows Drug Enforcement Administration requirements and veterinary prescribing standards to protect patients, families, veterinary professionals, and the wider community.
These safeguards help ensure that controlled medications are prescribed and dispensed only when medically appropriate.
Receiving a Controlled Prescription
Schedule II controlled medications cannot be ordered through the VSP online pharmacy. When approved, these medications must be collected in person from the designated hospital location or issued as a written prescription for an outside pharmacy.
Each request requires authorization from the prescribing DEA registered veterinarian. Please allow at least five business days before your requested pickup date. This gives our team time to review the medical record, confirm eligibility, and prepare the prescription according to legal requirements.
Controlled Medication Eligibility
Approval is based on your pet’s most recent examination, current medical condition, treatment response, and required monitoring.
A controlled medication may not be renewed when:
• The required examination is overdue
• Recommended testing has not been completed
• The medication is no longer medically appropriate
• The requested refill date is too early
• The prescribing relationship is no longer current
• The veterinarian needs to reassess the treatment plan
Controlled prescriptions cannot be renewed when your pet has not been examined within the legally required period.
Identification Requirements
A valid photo ID will be required at pickup for the primary person on the account.
Controlled Medication Returns
Controlled medications cannot be returned, exchanged, or refunded after they leave the hospital. Please check the prescription details and pickup information before leaving the facility.
Early Refills and Missing Medication
These medications cannot be refilled early. If lost or stolen, a replacement may require additional steps, such as a police report.
