Our Founders

DVM, DACVIM

Dr. Grace Clark

Dr. Grace Clark earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, completing her veterinary degree in 2013. She continued her clinical education through a small animal rotating internship in medicine and surgery, followed by an internal medicine residency at BluePearl in Louisville. After completing her residency in 2017, she became board certified in small animal internal medicine.

Before establishing Veterinary Specialist Partners with Dr. Scott Rizzo in 2018, Dr. Clark spent several years working in a large specialty referral hospital. Her experience with complicated cases helped shape her vision for a practice built around collaborative medicine, detailed diagnostics, and personal communication with families.

Her professional interests include infectious diseases and advanced procedures involving the gastrointestinal and urinary systems. She enjoys helping families understand challenging medical conditions and identifying practical next steps for pets whose symptoms have remained unexplained.

Dr. Clark also serves as Chief Operations Officer and a founder of Veterinary Oncology Partners, which helps primary veterinarians provide customized chemotherapy protocols and oncology consultations within their own practices.

DVM, MA, DACVIM (SAIM), MBA

Dr. Scott Rizzo

Dr. Scott Rizzo is a board certified small animal internal medicine specialist whose career has been dedicated to improving access to advanced veterinary care.

He first earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Kentucky. His interest in medicine later led him to Colorado State University, where he completed a master’s degree in anatomy and earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Rizzo continued his advanced veterinary training through a small animal internship and an internal medicine residency at the University of Tennessee. He then became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

His clinical work centers on the diagnosis and treatment of complicated diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract, liver, kidneys, endocrine system, urinary tract, and immune system. He has also developed extensive experience in interventional radiology and interventional endoscopy.

These minimally invasive techniques may include laser lithotripsy, ureteral stenting, urethral stenting, and subcutaneous ureteral bypass placement. When appropriate for the patient, image guided procedures may provide an alternative to traditional surgery and support a more comfortable recovery.

Dr. Rizzo returned to Kentucky in 2009 and later served as a co-owner and medical director of a specialty referral hospital. In 2018, he and Dr. Clark founded Veterinary Specialist Partners to build a collaborative model of advanced veterinary medicine.

He completed his Master of Business Administration at Bellarmine University in 2025 to help guide the continued development of Veterinary Specialist Partners (VSP) and expand access to specialty care across the region.

Dr. Rizzo is also the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Veterinary Oncology Partners, a telemedicine platform that supports primary veterinarians with individualized chemotherapy plans and oncology consultation.
