Requesting a Refill
Please request refills at least 48 hours in advance to allow for processing. Requests can be made by calling (502) 901-7990 or online (CLICK HERE).
Eligibility & Requirements
Refills are approved if your pet has been examined within the recommended timeframe. Most prescriptions require a visit within the past 5 months, though this is at our veterinarian’s discretion. Some medications require much more frequent monitoring. By law, we cannot refill medications if your pet hasn’t been seen in the past 1 year.
⚠️ Please note: Our online pharmacy is available only for pets under the care of our specialty medicine doctors. If your pet was treated in our urgent care, refills need to be managed through your primary veterinarian
Preferred Option for Medication Refills
VSP provides a convenient and competitively priced online pharmacy for medication refills. Our platform enables our team to manage and adjust refills efficiently, ensuring a smooth experience for both you and your pet. We can also help track deliveries and make adjustments to autoship orders, enhancing overall customer service.
For added convenience, you can refill medications at either of our two VSP locations. However, since on-site medication supplies may be more limited, we recommend calling ahead to confirm availability before visiting.
Processing Fee & Outside Pharmacies
A $10 processing fee applies to written prescriptions or refills requested outside of our hospital or online pharmacy platforms. We’re happy to provide a written prescription upon request once the fee has been paid. (Click Here for the Request Form)
No Returns
For safety and legal reasons, once a medication leaves the hospital, we cannot accept returns or issue refunds for any dispensed medications.

How to Get Your Pet’s Controlled Medication
Schedule II (C2) medications must be picked up in person at our hospital or you can request a written prescription to take to a pharmacy of your choice, which requires a specific prescription pad and our DEA veterinarian’s approval. These medications cannot be filled through our online pharmacy, and require a 5 business day notification prior to intended pick-up.
Refill Eligibility
To ensure your pet’s safety, refills are only approved if they have been examined within the required timeframe and their medication remains necessary. By law, we cannot refill medications if your pet hasn’t been seen in the past 1 year.
Identification
A valid photo ID will be required at pickup for the primary person on the account.
No Returns
For safety and legal reasons, once a medication leaves the hospital, we cannot accept returns or issue refunds.
Early Refills & Lost Medications
These medications cannot be refilled early. If lost or stolen, a replacement may require additional steps, such as a police report.
